Wikia, Inc. (, the leading provider of community resources for building and organizing free content on every topic, celebrates the life and work of Muppet creator Jim Henson on Muppet Wiki ( ), where a community of fans have created the largest collection of Muppet information ever assembled. Henson's birthday is September 24th; he would be 71 years old today.

Muppet Wiki, founded in December 2005, includes more than 15,000 articles on Henson's work, covering The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and the dozens of movies and TV shows created by the Jim Henson Company and Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

The wiki format allows anyone to add information and edit pages, giving Muppet fans the opportunity to build a comprehensive guide. The word "wiki" comes from a Hawaiian word for "fast" -- and wikis are a powerful way to assemble a lot of information, very quickly. Working together as a group, contributors can pull together everything there is to know about the Muppets and Jim Henson, while building a community of fans at the same time.

Muppet Wiki contains articles on more than 2,000 Muppet characters (, including the famous characters -- Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Big Bird and Cookie Monster -- as well as the obscure ones, like Lew Zealand, the Mighty Favog, and Oscar the Grouch's girlfriend, Grundgetta. Muppet fans have also created pages for 600 Muppet Show songs, 1,000 Sesame Street episodes, and 150 Muppet monsters.
