Warmzone Donates Heated Tile to Family Featured on Extreme Makeover Home Edition

The heating system of a historic home in Maine was only one of the things that wasn't working. The house was also haunted. Now with a new home and heated tile for their bathroom, the house got a total remake. Warmzone partnered with Danfoss to donate high tech heated tile for the project which was featured on the network television show Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) September 26, 2007 -- Warmzone recently donated heated tile for a family in need. The Ray-Smith family of Milbridge, Maine hoped to rehab their historic home. Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition selected them for a remodel project. The project was recently completed -- just in time for Winter.

We are so pleased to be a contributor to the Extreme Home Makeover project with our partner, Warmzone. We are confident the heated tile will bring great warmth and satisfaction to the lives of the Ray-Smith family for many years to come
The family was chosen based on their situation. They were in debt from school and medical bills. To save money, they moved into a family home built by Brittney Ray-Smith's great-great grandparents. However, the home was in severe disrepair: the foundation was cracking, there was no insulation, and the electrical wiring was unsafe. Not only that, the house was haunted by ghosts (probably Brittney's relatives) who have a penchant for sharp objects and pranks.

The mother and father are teachers and active in the community. They have three children and one on the way: Bayley 11, Thomas 8, and Joseph (Jo-Jo) 3 and a soon-to-be adopted daughter from China. Thomas has Autism and they believe Jo-Jo might also be autistic. Their oldest son Bayley has hyperlipidemia (or high cholesterol). It's the same condition that caused fatal heart attacks in other family members.

The solution was heated tile that kept costs down, was simple to operate, and is maintenance-free. "The heated tile should help keep heating costs down and keep the family warm during cold Maine nights. Warmzone is glad to participate with Extreme Home Makeover and countless volunteers. We hope the Ray-Smith family -- both living and not -- are enjoying a safe and comfortable home," says Tracy Stanger, President and CEO of Warmzone.

Danfoss assisted Warmzone by donating their LX under floor heating system complete with programmable thermostats to provide additional heat and warm the bathroom tile. The heat originating from the floor can literally warm the entire room.

An integral Danfoss electric heating cable was installed under the tile to provide a direct source of heat. A heated tile thermostat with an in-floor sensor regulates the temperature.

"We are so pleased to be a contributor to the Extreme Home Makeover project with our partner, Warmzone. We are confident the heated tile will bring great warmth and satisfaction to the lives of the Ray-Smith family for many years to come", says Lyle Moroz, Vice-President, Danfoss, Inc."
