We are thrilled to be introducing a system which could literally change the way translators work
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2007
Elanex, Inc. today announces the launch of the Translation Search Engine (TSE), a revolutionary new online service for translators, translation companies, and in-house translation departments.
Translation memory has been in use as a translator productivity tool since the 1990s, but the primary mode of operation has been for an individual translator or group to purchase software, then to steadily build a private translation memory over time. The Translation Search Engine is designed to provide a new alternative: a completely open, easy to access, general purpose translation memory - pre-populated with over 30 million high quality translations covering a multitude of languages and subject areas.
The Translation Search Engine provides instant online access to accurate translations of words, phrases and sentences. Elanex advanced matching technology provides exact translations where available, 'exact extrapolated™' translations where possible, and fuzzy matches where the technology finds similar translations but cannot provide an extrapolation. If the system finds no match at all, it simply notifies you - so you know that when a match is found, you can rely on the translation. All translations have been created by professional translators, but are 'tokenized' using a proprietary process for removing company names, product names etc - addressing security concerns, and resulting in improved matching.
"We are thrilled to be introducing a system which could literally change the way translators work," commented Jonathan Kirk, Elanex founder and CEO. "Our internal research shows that translators using the system can easily save a day a month - imagine what an extra day a month can do for anyone! The system can be used by experienced translators to improve quality and consistency as well as turnaround time, and by junior translators to learn new subject areas. Additionally, the trading platform means that users can take advantage of the system at no cost - while improving its performance for everyone."
The TSE enables translators to trade their own translations for search results, using a simple formula that provides much more in return for a contribution. Any translations added are 'tokenized' and checked for quality by the Elanex team, and then are made available in the TSE for general matching. As a result, the TSE learns, grows and improves through use on a continuous basis.
The TSE is available today through an invitation-only beta program. To sign up for an invitation, or for more information, please visit http://www.elanex.com/tse.
