More Flexibility in Choosing Your Input Medium for Windream Archive

Share Article

Users of the Windream archival system now have more flexibility when it comes to capturing paper documents. This flexibility was made possible thanks to the capture middleware AutoStore Workflow from NSi. NSi extends the capabilities of various multifunctional devices and scanners turning them into an input medium that can now be used by Windream as well.

Notable Solutions, Inc. has added an interface to its AutoStore Workflow that connects it to Windream Document Management System (DMS). The new component is already available as part of the standard functionalities offered by the AutoStore software. Thanks to this integration, a Windream user can use a wide range of commonly used multifunctional devices and scanners to capture documents directly into Windream.

AutoStore-enabled scanning devices are very easy to operate. With only a few clicks, a user can build paths, rename files and send images to a specified destination with metadata attached.

For small and medium size businesses:

The largest beneficiaries of AutoStore enhancements are small and medium size organizations who use compact DMS solutions provided by Windream. "It is the small and the medium size businesses who are interested in document management -- at an affordable price," says Enno Lückel, COO of NSi Europe. The combination of Windream and AutoStore enables them to do so." NSi data capture solution is also scalable, ranging from the "lite" version, AutoStore Express at a price of only a few hundred dollars to the full-service enterprise version. The license is obtained per device -- not per page count.

"Windream products fit ideally into the AutoStore Workflow product suite which as a 'lite' verision meets the needs of not only large organizations but those of smaller and medium-size businesses," says Enno Lückel, COO of NSi Europe GmbH.

About NSi
Notable Solutions, Inc. (NSi) is a leading workflow software company since 1995. NSi's suite of products is especially suitable for businesses with a demand for distributed scanning, or distributed data capture. NSi was among the first to develop capture solutions directly integrated with MFDs and easily operated via the device's own display panel.

Today NSi's products are available for almost every kind of MFDs of the leading manufacturers such as Canon, HP, Ricoh, Kodak, Kyocera Mita, Nashuatec, Sharp and Xerox.

The company's headquarter is based in Rockville, Maryland (USA). Its European sales branch is located in Braunfels near Frankfurt/M. All products are available through resellers such as Xerox or IKON. Worldwide more than 25,000 servers and more than 250,000 networked devices work with NSi software, some of which are OEM versions. NSi's customers include ABN Amro, Caterpillar, Daimler Chrysler, FedEx, Ludwig Görtz, Pricewaterhouse-Coopers, Siemens Financial Services, Storagetec, and UNESCO.

NSI's flagship product AutoStore Workflow is a capture middleware that captures data from documents independent of the input source, processes it automatically and sends the processed content to various repositories and document management systems. The platform is primarily used together with MFDs to create menus and indexing forms on the device display panel. The user simply navigates to the desired menu for the desired document workflow option and enters the required index information and presses the scan button. The digitized document is OCR'd and saved to the document repository as a searchable PDF file.

AutoStore software provides a cost-effective alternative to centralized scanning. It uses existing infrastructure to capture data, and provides all processing functions including OCR, ICR, Barcode recognition, Image enhancement, Forms Recognition and Forms Processing. It is also licensed independent of the processed volume. All NSi products can be integrated with various DMS, workflows, ECM systems, and storage systems. The NSi software supports Documentum, Domino, Exchange, FileNet, Hummingbird, Interwoven, OpenText Livelink, LaserFiche, Lotus Notes, SharePoint, Windream and various other industry standard repositories.
