Kapalua Resort Launches Energy Conservation Initiative with MicroPlanet Technology Products

Kapalua Resort launches energy conservation initiative with MicroPlanet Technology products -- pilot test conducted to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Kapalua Resort, Maui, Hawaii (PRWEB) September 28, 2007 -- As part of Maui Land & Pineapple Company's (www.MauiLand.com) ongoing commitment to energy conservation and sustainability practices, it has conducted a pilot program over the past six months, testing the effectiveness of MicroPlanet products at its facilities in the Kapalua Resort (www.Kapalua.com). MicroPlanet Technology Corp. (www.MicroPlanet.com) is a high technology, energy conservation company that introduced its commercial 3-phase and residential voltage regulation systems to Kapalua Resort in an effort to reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The results of the first pilot site indicate that the technology is saving 12.87 percent on kWh consumption and reducing kVAR (demand) by 34.48 percent for the entire commercial building in the pilot site at Kapalua Resort. The equipment is expected to have a payback period of less than three years.

Cliff Smith, Development Manager for Maui Land & Pineapple Company (MLP), remarked, "We were impressed with the results of the pilot tests and see the see the implementation of MicroPlanet technology at Kapalua as the perfect opportunity to be true to our vision of wise stewardship with the added benefit of reducing costs."

MicroPlanet's technology helps to reduce the total amount of energy production needed by significantly increasing the efficiency of the electric grid. MicroPlanet's products dynamically manage the voltage delivered to a business or home to optimal levels, which saves energy, lowers electricity bills and helps reduce greenhouse emissions. These products can also reduce peak period demand and improve utility services.

"The partnership with MLP is a significant event for MicroPlanet. It is further validation that our commercial 3-phase products are being rapidly adopted by clients to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse emissions," said Bruce Lisanti, President and CEO of MicroPlanet.

MicroPlanet has installed over 600 systems in pilot programs and the pilots continue to return very positive results. MLP, which is developing several new projects in Kapalua Resort, is committed to the concept of green building with low-emitting materials, using state-of-the-art sustainable land use management plans and energy reducing power systems.
