Moravia Worldwide (http://www.moraviaworldwide.com), a leading globalization solution provider, announced today its support for the Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) and the upcoming milestones in its mission to advance the adoption of translation technology and sharing of language data across the industry. This includes further progress with enhanced machine translation (MT) approaches, advanced leveraging (AL) technology as well plans to establish a language data sharing industry co-operative. Founded in 2005, TAUS (http://www.translationautomation.com) connects users and providers of translation and localization technologies and services, and its focus is on the exchange of user experiences, best practices and technology roadmaps in the field of language and translation technology.

Moravia sees great benefit in supporting TAUS and the group's initiatives as they closely correlate with the company's own adoption and practical implementation of machine translation technologies and their further development. Moravia believes in the advantages of a hybrid approach to translation automation that is based on integrating machine translation technologies, advanced translation memories and human post-editing together with the overall translation workflow system. With this approach, machine translation is used where and when appropriate in the translation process along with the right choice of post-editing method and resources.

As a language services provider, Moravia has built a major expertise in a wide range of translation automation technologies and sees these technologies as one of the key drivers to increase translation efficiency and to reduce time-to-market for customers while improving quality. The company's strategy is based on working closely with independent technology suppliers and achieving excellence in the utilization and customization of independent, non-captive technologies. This approach is complemented by custom development that integrates these open technologies and a support for open standards.

"We look forward to our future collaboration with TAUS and its members and to contributing to the development of new standards within the translation industry," commented Premek Vala, Moravia's Chief Information Officer. "Moravia has previously participated in the development of standards such as XLIFF and Translation Web Services under OASIS, and we consider TAUS to be another collaborative platform that will benefit the industry as a whole. In addition, TAUS provides an excellent opportunity for us to benchmark our progress with machine translation and translation automation in general with industry colleagues, and to share experiences and collaborate on common technology and language data projects."

"We are very pleased to have Moravia participate in our TAUS activities," commented Jaap van der Meer, Director and co-founder of TAUS. "Their reputation in the industry and their expertise in translation automation technologies, which they use with a broad range of clients in different vertical markets, is a great asset for our community; they will help to achieve a faster adoption of our group's proposals and recommendations in the industry."
