There's still a solid presence of USA made product in the industry. and there are good reasons for this.

Empire Promotional Products, a promotional products agency since 1984, has launched a new, state-of-the-art website.
In addition to offering a multitude of products made overseas and stocked in the US, they are featuring a collection of promotional items that are manufactured in the USA. According to Carol Mayer, President, "There's still a solid presence of USA made product in the industry. and there are good reasons for this."
Molded plastic, welded vinyl products, plastic pens, pencils, magnets and printed paper products are just a few the many products manufactured with high speed, automated equipment and a minimum of hand labor in the manufacturing process. As a result, they can be produced competitively and in a more timely manner in the U.S.
Large orders often require less than three weeks delivery time. Many US products can be made domestically in that time frame or even faster. Even if products can be made overseas in two or three weeks, they need to be delivered to the airport and shipped by air. Bringing in overseas product by air has become increasingly less cost effective as the price of fuel escalates.
After the overseas order enters a US port, time spent in customs clearance can be unpredictably long as a result of shipment inspections necessitated by terrorist threats.
Imported product must be kept in stock at domestic factories. Only the largest suppliers can afford to keep large inventories of all the products in their lines and even they occasionally run out of stock. Often, disappointment results when the order is finally placed and the domestic stock is no longer available.
Many end users are increasingly concerned about the safety of products coming from Asia that are sometimes decorated with inks containing lead and other toxic substances. This is of particular importance with regard to toys and games that may be handled by small children. U.S regulations on product safety particularly with regard to lead and solvent content in printing inks are far more stringent and more effectively enforced than overseas regulations.
Buying and distributing promotional products that are Made in the USA may lessen the risk of legal exposure in the event of a person being injured or becoming sick from the use of their product. In terms of ethics, giving promotional products that comply to the highest safety standards is the "right" thing to do.
