New Bern, NC - Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit organization that provides specially adapted homes for severely wounded veterans, announced the completion of a home building project for a severely wounded US Army soldier, SGT Eric Edmundson and his family.
SGT. Eric Edmundson was seriously injured by an IED on Oct. 2nd, 2005. Injuries sustained in the blast were shrapnel wounds to the right leg and abdomen, with the shrapnel wounds to the abdomen requiring the removal of his spleen, fracture to the T4 and T5 vertebrae, fracture of the fibula head in right leg. While awaiting transport to Germany, Eric went into cardiac arrest. Because of the time needed to revive Eric and lack of oxygen to his brain, he sustained an anoxic brain injury.

John Gonsalves, President and Founder of Homes For Our Troops, and local volunteers in the community of New Bern, would like to extend an invitation to your organization to share in this event with SGT Edmundson, his wife and their child.

Eric's home is one of five projects that Homes For Our Troops has undertaken in NC. Work is also complete on barrier-free homes in Fayetteville and Roxboro, the Waxhaw project is well underway and Homes For Our Troops broke ground on it's Lumberton project in September.
