One of Canada's best loved duets, Cash 'N Checks, which features the smooth velvet vocals of Tracy Lynn Cash and her Cash family duet partner James Marvin Paycheck are in the studio recording a new album with MCA Universal producer Robert Metzgar for Platinum Plus Universal Records. "When we thought about hiring the best production team in Nashville, we hired Mr. Metzgar's team to produce our album," Tracy Lynn Cash told reporters in Canada. It will take six months to complete the album and another six months to get it distributed. "We are still beating the majors to market by two years," Metzgar said. The average major label act now only releases an album every three years.

The Cash family has a long and distinguished history in country music. When Tracy Lynn Cash and her duet partner James Marvin Paycheck chose a producer for their new country album, they chose one of Nashville's most successful veteran hit makers to take them in the studio. The Cash family goes back a long way with Nashville producer Robert Metzgar. The new album features original music written by Tracy Lynn Cash and two original songs by Johnny Cash & June Carter. The Canadian duet is scheduled to finish their album for the 2008 signing season in country music. Scheduled for release internationally, the album pays tribute to the incredible history of the Cash family and the movie "Walk The Line."

One of Metzgar's great life experiences was his time spent with Johnny Cash's mother "Mama" Cash. Metzgar praised the Cash family for their historic contribution to the music business. Tommy Cash, the brother of Johnny Cash is an incredible performer and singer. " I will always appreciate Billy Deaton, one of Nashville's most famous booking agents for introducing me to Tommy Cash." Tommy Cash had some of the biggest hits in our business and sometimes people don't realize that. JoAnne Cash Yates and her husband Harry Yates are pastors and ministers in our community. "I was deeply touched by Mama Cash's influence at our church in Hendersonville," Metzgar told Headline News. Joanne Cash Yates and her husband Harry Yates are the pastors of Cowboy Church in Nashville.

Tracy Lynn Cash brought such an array of great original songs with her to the studio. "In our business, it's all about the song," Metzgar says. Tracy Lynn Cash's title song, "Tennessee Whiskey" is about the Jack Daniels distillery located in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Jack Daniels has been prominently featured in movies, songs, country music, strongly linked to rock 'n roll and the American biker culture. This song is the poster for a product that can be legally made in the county of origin but not sold in that county. Cash fully bemoans this fact in her new title song. Brand loyalty to Jack Daniels is as strong as country music fans are loyal to their heroes. Frank Sinatra was buried with a flask of Old No. 7, Jack Daniel's whiskey and Sinatra was the first to give the brand it's very high profile. Cash & Paycheck are recording in the same studio used by Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra recently recorded her latest album there as well.

"This group of incredible Tracy Lynn Cash & James Marvin Paycheck original songs features one of the Cash family's best duets, Tall Lover Man." Metzgar commented. The album pays tribute to the Cash family and Mother Mabel Carter in particular. James Marvin Paycheck takes Johnny Cash's part on stage and backs Tracy Lynn in their concerts as a duet. MCA Universal producer Robert Metzgar got songs from John Rich, Tom Shapiro, and other top songwriters in Nashville along with the Cash family original material for the album. The Canadian duet love the music of Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood. Other duets that have influeced their music are Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, Brooks & Dunn and Johnny Cash & June Carter.

Putting a budget together with the help of Platinum Plus Universal funding partners involved a joint venture in which the artist, Tracy Lynn Cash & James Marvin Paycheck contributed 50% of the contract and their funding partners contributed the other half. "A demo album in Nashville costs about $37,500.00 (Thirty seven thousand five hundred dollars-U.S.) under these terms," a master scale album now costs $150,000 and some artists like Alan Jackson, George Strait, Faith Hill or Shania spend over a half million dollars in production on one 12 song project.
