Free Project Management Website Released

Share Article today announced the live release of their new free portal for Project Managers.

The portal provides the world's first directory for software programs and tools in the project management space. "As a Project Manager you need typically software to help you deliver projects" says Cheryl Jacobs, Public Relations Director for

"By using project management software, managers and teams can boost their success rates. These tools usually allow managers and teams to monitor and control the progress of a project, from initiation to closure."

A free directory for Project Managers, provides a filtered list of the "best of the best" in project management software. "There are literally thousands of sites out there who offer project management software solutions," says Jacobs, "so we searched for the cream of the crop and found that the top 100 solutions cover approximately 80% of all internet generated traffic, for the search terms 'project management software'. We then took these 100 solutions and profiled them on our site, for free." lists the top 100 project management software solutions, found through intensive research, on the web. It allows managers and teams to quickly find software that meets their requirements, by providing a free directory service. The directory contains 12 comprehensive categories, which collate top software tools into relevant groups, to make it easier for users to conduct searches.

"It's really interesting," says Jacobs. "People used to search for more traditional forms of project management software, such as those packages which are downloaded and installed on a client PC or server. However from our research, we believe that more people are nowadays searching for online and web based software. In fact, these searches outweigh those of traditional searches two-to-one from what we can see. So the trend is going in favour of Software as a Service, otherwise known as Saas."

The trend towards Saas project management software is not unexpected, as improvements in bandwidth and rejuvenated support in external hosting of client critical data has pushed Saas confidence to an all time high. Saas offerings allow customers to outsource an entire business function, to an external supplier. It's different than traditional hosted out-sourcing models, due to the fact that the outsourced provider typically has thousands of clients all running on the same platform, in a what is called a multi-tenant model, and therefore economies of scale can be realized. This allows the Saas provider to offer a higher quality solution, at a cheaper price to the customer.

"After extensive research, we've found that the fastest growing areas in the project management software industry are online and web based offerings. In fact, not a month seems to pass by when a new provider comes into the market with novel and unique project management offering. Although it's a new field, the market is getting to a saturation point, so vendors are starting to compete heavily on price," says Jacobs. "Online project management offerings used to be around the $50/user/month mark, but most new vendors are offering their products at the $5/user/month mark. We're yet to see if this new breed of organization will survive long term, as it is usually harder for a Saas vendor to generate sufficient cashflow, than a traditional software vendor. Regardless, if you're looking for an offering in this space, our new portal will help you to find the best solution available today."

The makers of plan to extend the site further in the future, by adding new free portal features and content. And with the release of their new site, they hope to add real value to managers and teams, by offering a site that lists the top project management software offerings worldwide.
