The Grey School of Wizardry's "Why I Want to Be A Wizard" Essay Contest for individuals from the ages of 11-17 is pleased to announce our 4 Winners. And now we are launching an essay contest for adults: "What is the Most Astounding Magickal Beast?"

The Grey School of Wizardry's "Why I Want to Be A Wizard" Essay Contest for individuals from the ages of 11-17 is pleased to announce our Winners.

Our four winners are Anna Byington (11) of West Islip, NY; Jonathan Daley (14) of Rowley, MA; Daniel Scopelliti (15) of Sayre, PA; and Lauren Phillips (17) of Port Jarvis, NY. They will all receive a copy of the primary Grey School textbook, Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard -- personally autographed by the Headmaster, Oberon Zell-Ravenheart. Also, each of our talented Winners will receive a beautiful Magic Wand from Willowroot Real Magic Wands, plus have their essays published in The Grey School magazine, Whispering Grey Matters. And all four will receive full scholarships for their first "year level" at the Grey School . Congratulations, Lauren, Jonathan, Daniel and Anna!

The Grey School of Wizardry is now pleased to announce the "What is the Most Astounding Magickal Beast?" Adult Essay Contest. The Contest is open to all aspiring Wizards between the ages of 18 and 138 years old. Contestants do not have to live in North America -- entries are welcome worldwide! The purpose of the Contest is to promote adult scholarship in Wizardry. It is free to enter by submitting an essay via mail, email, or on our site.

You may write about one Beast from mythology, fiction, or films - from any culture -- and what their astounding magickal powers are. The subject of your entry essay is "What is the Most Astounding Magickal Beast?" All Essays must be typed or word processed (not handwritten) in English, and need to be between 400 and 500 words long. Contest entries must be new, original, and unpublished essays. Essays will be judged on how well they fit the theme, how convincing they are, and the overall writing skill.

Entry Deadline: All Essays must be received between October 15th and December 30th, 2007. Winners will be announced on January 15, 2008. There will be one Winner for each adult lodge category.

The four Winners will each receive a scholarship to the Grey School of Wizardry, worth the tuition of one "year-level" (24 credits). Each Winner will also each receive a copy of A Wizard's Bestiary by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart and Grey School 's very own Ash "LeopardDancer" DeKirk. Also, each Winner will also receive a powerful Wand from Willowroot Real Magic Wands aligned with their element.

Also as a Winner, your essay will be published in a special edition of the Grey School magazine, Whispering Grey Matters. (Essays may be gently edited for spelling and grammar by WGM staff.) Aimed at new and potential students, the special edition will be publicly available and used for promoting the Grey School of Wizardry.

Oberon Zell-Ravenheart and the Grey Council founded the online Grey School of Wizardry in 2004. The school currently offers over 200 classes in magickal, esoteric, and arcane lore, in Departments of Majors and Minors. Classes are developed and taught by a faculty of over 40 highly qualified teachers. Adult Students are sorted socially into Lodges. Graduates are certified as "Journeyman Wizards."
