Bloomington, IN (PRWEB) October 10, 2007
ENVISAGE Technologies announced today that is joining the Corporate Crisis Response Officers Association (CCROA) as a charter member.
CCROA seeks to engage local business and non-profit entities to play an important role in community preparedness and response. In most communities, skilled private sector personnel and resources far outnumber first responder assets and thus are vital to community survivability during the initial days of a crisis.
"The first hours of any emergency are the most critical to recovery. As we've seen in the past, it is local business and community leaders who must be the first to respond during these decisive hours," said Asa Hutchinson, chair of CCROA's Advisory Board and former Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary. "Our national security is only as strong as our least prepared community. Our goal is to build a national grassroots infrastructure of local leaders who will ensure that every community is capable of responding to an emergency until help arrives."
Recently, CCROA unveiled its first major technology initiative, the Essential Public Network© (EPN). This secure online network will be structured as a collection of customized local "hubs" providing participating communities with a series of essential tools including two-way information sharing between private-sector resources, local community and non-profit organizations, local and federal crisis response and law enforcement officials.
"We are honored to be a part of the CCROA and strongly support the concept of private sector involvement in crisis response," said Ari Vidali, ENVISAGE CEO. "Local businesses, charities, and not-for-profit organizations have significant resources in terms of qualified personnel, critical resources, materials and supplies at their disposal. Unfortunately, these vital assets are not known or easily accessible to crisis response officials during times of need. It is essential that we provide the tools to properly register, maintain, share and search this information in order to put these vital capabilities in a community's arsenal during times of crisis."
As a charter member, ENVISAGE intends to work with CCROA on data standards, interoperability and enterprise technology initiatives with the goal of helping communities achieve readiness. The company is evaluating several EPN pilot projects for the inclusion of its Acadis Readiness Suite software which was designed specifically to track critical public safety and law enforcement personnel, resource and credentialing data.
"ENVISAGE's involvement will be critical in the initial development stages of the EPN," said Jeb Carney, President of CCROA. "Their expertise and capabilities will allow communities to customize the EPN and use a combination of the tools best suited to meet local needs. The partnership between CCROA and ENVISAGE marks an important step forward in the ReadyCommunities initiative."
