Annie's Costumes is thinking about more than Halloween this October. In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the online costume retailer is donating 10% of sales from all costumes and accessories from their "Think Pink" page to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Annie's Costumes, a family owned and operated business, started in 1989 when Harold B. Maxwell and his late wife, Hilda opened Annie's Costume and Magic in Plantation, FL in 1989. Their daughter, Shari Maxwell-McConahay put the business "online" in 1996 with the launch of http://www.AnniesCostumes.com. Not long after, Hilda was diagnosed with breast cancer and Hilda lost her battle with breast cancer on May 31, 1999.
"Breast cancer treatment has come a long way since then, but we need a cure so that other families do not have to suffer as we have," McConahay said. "This is why we strongly support Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The foundation raises funds for research, education, screening, and treatment."
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982 that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and year round.
So, McConahay adds, "Think Pink" when buying Halloween Costumes this year. Good Halloween costumes including Pink Princesses, Sassy Pirate Wenches and Pink Fairy Costumes can all be found on the "Think Pink" page at http://www.anniescostumes.com/thinkpinkcostumes.htm.
