San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 15, 2007
The Keating Hotel™ by Pininfarina™, San Diego's premier luxury boutique hotel, continues to redefine San Diego's hospitality landscape by opening their new semi-private ultra-lounge, Minus 1. Housed in the hotel's subterranean depths, Minus 1 is exclusive to guests, members and an eclectic mix of the Who's Who of Southern California. Best known as the designers of exotic autos such as Ferrari and Maserati, world-famed Italian design powerhouse, Pininfarina Extra designed Minus 1 creating a modern, sophisticated lounge concept boasting top-of-the-line European service, an international compilation of mixed-tempo music and premium imbibements in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter's nightlife scene.
"In Minus 1, Pininfarina strove to fuse sensuous design with the intricate historical details of the property," said Paolo Pininfarina, chairman of Pininfarina Extra. "By taking elements of the original space and blending in our iconic style, the results are striking."
Like the contemporary European sex appeal that is synonymous with Pininfarina, the lounge possesses the same sleek, smooth finish of their luxury sportscars highlighted in the gallery of Pininfarina automobile paintings hanging on its exposed granite and brick walls. Glowing subtle red lighting illuminates the curvaceous stainless steel bar and low, custom-designed, mysteriously sleek black settees. While ensconced in one of the lounge's many intimate alcoves, guests may enjoy a broad range of premium beverages as well as exclusive, limited-edition wines from Paolo Pininfarina's personal wine collection. Wine connoisseurs will take pleasure in the extensive wine list which includes Gancia sparkling wines, Blanc du Blanc Champagne and other Italian wines that can only be found in the United States at Minus 1. Along with the Minus 1 policy of pouring substantial drinks (no skimping here!), the Minus 1 mixologists are overly capable and trained to make exquisite mixed drinks like their signature fresh flavored Mojitos and other tasty concoctions always made with real fruit mixers.
For those lounge members that wish to partake in their own collection, or simply wish to save their unfinished bottles for the next exciting Minus 1 experience, the original 1890's brick bank vault housed in the center of Minus 1, has been ingeniously converted into a keyed deposit box-style locker area for private bottle storage.
For those guests that choose to experience the utmost luxury of Minus 1's true European bottle service, a personal attendant mixes every cocktail at each private table, elevating the typical do-it-yourself pouring experience found in most nightclubs into a memorable luxury experience. Guests may also savor Italian-style tapas, including chicken parmesan sliders, anise crusted ahi carpaccio and a savory spiced calamari plate.
"For a long time, San Diegans had to travel across country or abroad to enjoy the true nightlife experience that Europeans and citizens of other great cities have long enjoyed," said hotelier Edward Kaen. "With the opening of Minus 1, San Diegans can finally enjoy that elevated caliber and quality of nightlife in their own city."
