Kimberly Fowler's YOGA for ATHLETES® Class to Kick Off Women's Sports Foundation's Festivities

Kimberly Fowler, founder of YAS Fitness Centers, will be featured as she leads 90 notable women athlete through her trademark YOGA for ATHLETES® class at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, October 14th, 2007. This event launches the 2007 Women's Sports Foundation's festivities.

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 13, 2007 -- At 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 14 at The Waldorf Astoria in New York city, 90 notable women athletes will stretch, mold and challenge their bodies and minds as Kimberly Fowler, founder of YAS Fitness Centers, leads them through her trademark YOGA for ATHLETES® class. An athletes only brunch will be held after the class to discuss the benefits of yoga for athletes and for cross training & injury prevention. Each athlete will get her own yoga mat, donated by Nike, and a copy of Fowler's YOGA for ATHLETES® DVD. This event kicks off the Women's Sports Foundation's festivities to embrace and celebrate the female athlete, which includes the 28th Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Dinner.

Proclaimed by Nike as "The Face of Modern Yoga", Fowler is not only the founder of YAS, but also an inspiration. A perfect example of how powerful the mind and spirit can be, she has overcome physical injuries as well as a battle with cancer with yoga practice as the center of her recovery. After many years in high-powered business and legal arenas, Fowler, a tri-athlete and health and fitness expert, founded YAS Fitness Centers in 2001, looking for a way to make yoga more relevant to athletes. She developed YOGA for ATHLETES® to demonstrate how yoga improves balance, flexibility, power and stamina which can result in improved performance, injury reduction and faster recovery for athletes of all levels.

"I'm ecstatic that I will be able to lead my YOGA for ATHLETES® class for such great women athletes," says Fowler, "This is a one of a kind opportunity, not only as a way to share the powerful and long term effects that yoga can have on athletes, but to be in the presence of women who believe that you really can do anything if you set your mind to it."

YOGA for ATHLETES® is a complete 60 minute workout that strengthens and stretches every area of the body, blending the most effective postures in a concise sequence. While participating in sports, imbalances occur in the body, which can lead to strain on the joints.
