Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau Invites Race Fans to Experience NASCAR in Arizona, a Popular Tempe Event

The heart of Arizona, Tempe is a popular destination for race fans as NASCAR comes to the valley.

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) October 13, 2007 -- The Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.tempecvb.com) has begun preparation as it celebrates NASCAR in Arizona this November. Taking place at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), this year's NASCAR NEXTEL cup series event marks the 20th fall race in PIR history and is a much-anticipated Tempe event. Just minutes from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Tempe is home base for many race fans during the vacation weekend.

The events at PIR kick off with the Casino Arizona 150, part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, on November 9. Admission to this event also includes the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Qualifying and the PIR After Dark Fan Festival, which will follow the Casino Arizona 150. On November 10, the up and comers from the NASCAR Busch Series battle the veterans of the NEXTEL Cup Series in the ARIZONA.Travel 200. November 11, history lives on when the 20th fall race in PIR's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series, the Checker Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil, thrills race fans.

After an exhilarating day watching NASCAR in Arizona at PIR, visitors and locals frequent Tempe to refuel for a night on the town in the Mill Avenue District. Located between Arizona State University and Tempe Town Lake, this pedestrian-friendly area is filled with more than 100 shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Many find a sports bar, discover a live music venue or conduct their own informal pub crawl to meet up with race fans. Others choose to linger over a relaxing dinner and dessert.

PIR fans will also be some of the first to experience the new Tempe Marketplace, a 1.3 million square foot shopping and Tempe event destination. It features a Dave & Buster's, Lucille's Bar-B-Que, live entertainment and the 16-screen Harkins theatre, one of Arizona's largest movie complexes.

Located in the heart of the Metropolitan Phoenix area, Tempe is home to a wide array of hotels ranging from family-friendly and budget conscious properties to upscale resorts.
