Dailymotion Celebrates Halloween with Trick for Treat Skateboarding Contest

Skaters nationwide invited to upload original videos of their best skateboarding tricks; Prizes include Vans skate footwear and skate gear

Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video sharing site, today announced the launch of the "Trick for Treat" skateboarding video contest just in time for Halloween. The competition, which runs until November 3, 2007, invites the skateboarding community to upload original videos showing their best tricks for a chance to win gear from Vans.

Contestants will be part of Dailymotion's MotionMaker program for its most active creative users. Dailymotion recently added the category "Extreme" to existing categories "Filmmaker," "Entertainer," "Musician" and "Reporter" in the program. "At Dailymotion, we're always looking for innovative ways to nurture the many talents of our user-base and help them get the recognition they deserve," said Joy Marcus, General Manager of the US.

"While skateboarding is usually thought of as an extreme sport, it can also be viewed as an art form. We've noticed a great trend on our site of users sharing amazing skate videos," commented Danny Passman, senior creative director for the US. "We're extremely excited to see the ambitious and entertaining videos we're sure to receive from our contestants."

Judging for the contest will be conducted by Vans and will be based on criteria such as trick originality, creativity and visual style of the submissions. The lucky grand prize winner will win skate gear from Vans, the leading lifestyle brand for the skateboarding community.
