UK pen manufacturer, Sanford have launched a new tool for designing customisable promotional pens and offer a unique service for printing the image on to the barrel of the pen.

Sanford Brands, owners of the Parker, Waterman, Rotring, Papermate and Berol brands of pen, have launched a tool for designing custom, promotional pens and have also announced a service for printing the desired image using a unique digital transfer film wrap process.

The pen customisation tool, called PenLab version 4, has been created with a user interface silimar to popular artworking packages photoshop. Featuring new functionality, PenLab software allows a user to select which pen from the many in Sanford's range and view pantone specific images of their brand or corporate message upon the barrel and cap of the pen. Colours, text and graphics can all be applied and the image of pen can be rotated around two axes for full inspection of the design.

The user then has the option of saving their design in a number of formats before sending it to Sanford to be printed.

Sanford use a state of the art digital transfer film wrap technique to reproduce the customer's image onto the barrel of the pen exactly as it is seen in PenLab. The printing technique is accurate enough to enable Sanford to mass produce a particular design and thus offering companies and organisations an innovative solution for designing their own promotional pens entirely from scratch.

Sanford Brands say that since the launch of the first version of PenLab, companies have been able to design custom promotional pens themselves with ease, sometimes with interesting results.

"More and more of our customers are benefiting from using PenLab. In 2006, PenLab generated over £300,000 in sales and is continuing to maintain key accounts for our customers and drive new business acquisition" says Stuart Warne, UK Sales Manager for Sanford Brands Business to Business.

"One particular client managed to produce a promotional pen with the image of their bread product wrapped around a Parker roller ball pen much to the delight of their chairman."

The PenLab software is available for download from Sanford's website, and comes with full instructions on it's use. Contact Sanford Business to Business for more information on the digital film wrap printing process.
