"The Hearty Boys" and "Two Meatballs," four chefs and TV personalities, will be at Sam's Wines & Spirits stores in Highland Park and Lincoln Park this week to sign copies of their new cookbooks featuring party and Italian fare, respectively.
On Wednesday, October 17, Chicago's own 'Hearty Boys" Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh will be at Sam's in Highland Park from 7 to 9 pm with their new party cookbook, "Talk With Your Mouth Full." The duo won the Food Network's first reality television show, "The Next Food Network Star," and are now the hosts of "Party Line with the Hearty Boys." Sam's Highland Park store is at 1919 Skokie Valley Road on the east side of U.S. 41 just south of the Park Avenue West exit. (847-433-9463)
On Friday, October 19, fellow Manhattan restaurateurs Pino Luongo and Mark Strausman will be at Sam's in Lincoln Park from 4 to 7 pm to autograph copies of their first joint cookbook, "Two Meatballs in the Italian Kitchen." Luongo is co-owner of New York City's acclaimed Coco Pazzo eatery and author of the best-selling cookbook "Simply Tuscan." Strausman is chef/co-owner of Coco Pazzo, executive chef at "Fred's" in Barneys New York, and author of "The Campagna Table." Sam's Lincoln Park store is at 1720 N. The book signings are among hundreds of tastings, seminars and classes sponsored annually by Sam's, the country's largest independent wine retailer. Special events range from grand tastings to appearances by the world's premier wine and spirits makers, while Sam's Academy classes span topics from the world's major wine grapes and winemaking regions to wine aging and pairing food and wine.
