Ping Identity Releases New Cardspace Open Source Projects

CardSpace relying party C library and PHP sample application now available on Codeplex.com and SourceID.org.
This is an important milestone that helps accelerate application uptake of Windows CardSpace technologies

Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 16, 2007 -- Ping Identity Corporation (www.pingidentity.com) today announced it has released an open source CardSpace Relying Party C Library implementation. This component helps Web developers create applications that can accept Information Cards for single sign-on. Ping Identity partnered with Microsoft to produce a core C library that can be used generically with any Web site or service. This open source software is available under a BSD license and can be downloaded at www.codeplex.com/InformationCard.

Through the UI paradigm of Information Cards, the user is presented with a simple, consistent way to manage and securely present their identity to heterogeneous applications. Information Cards represent a revolutionary change that puts the user squarely in control of how their identity is used across the Internet.

A reference sample application, which demonstrates how the C Library can be easily embedded in a PHP application, can be downloaded from www.SourceID.org. Also available on SourceID is an Apache Authentication Module for CardSpace. The ability to support PHP and Apache dramatically expands the number of Web applications that can now be readily CardSpace-enabled.

“This is an important milestone that helps accelerate application uptake of Windows CardSpace technologies,” said Mike Neuenschwander, Vice President and Research Director, Burton Group.

“Microsoft was pleased to work with a vendor like Ping Identity who has deep experience with federation and CardSpace technologies. They are providing technologies that deliver on Microsoft’s Open Specification Promise that seeks to build more interoperable identity infrastructure,” stated Vijay Rajagopalan, PM Architect Developer Platform Strategy, Microsoft.

“These releases build on Ping Identity’s CardSpace expertise and market presence. Later this year, we will deliver a PingFederate CardSpace module that adds support for accepting both self-issued and managed Information Cards,” said Andre Durand, CEO, Ping Identity.
