Abbott Staffing Companies today announced that they had made strategic changes to their executive management team, created new positions and re-engineered aspects of their business strategy.
Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2007 -- Abbott Staffing Companies today announced that they had made strategic changes to their executive management team, created new positions and re-engineered aspects of their business strategy.
Shelle Kulik was named President and CEO of Abbott Staffing Cos. last month and four other staff members were promoted to newly created positions. The changes came on the heels of the retirement of two long-time company executives, CEO Karen Powers and Allayne (Yackey) Estrada, Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations. The promotions reflect the extensive experience of the Abbott staff that helps the company maintain a leadership position in the staffing industry.
Kulik now heads the 37-year-old employment company after a 23-year career with Abbott where she originally started as a payroll clerk in 1984. Kulik most recently was President and COO, positions she held since 2001. Earlier, Kulik was responsible for launching the specialty services division of Abbott Staffing: Accounting Connection, Culinary Connection and Abbott's Labor Link. Under her leadership, the company has expanded to four specialty branches and eight Abigail Abbott branches throughout the Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire region.
Upon her retirement, outgoing CEO Powers, who joined Abbott in 1976 as a permanent placement consultant, expressed her confidence that the right team was in place to maintain the health and prosperity of the employee-owned company. She called it a team "that would follow through with not only my dream for the future of the Abbott Staffing Companies but the dream of (founder) Louise Pomeroy."

Kulik is active in professional organizations and has worked with several nonprofits, including the Professional Alliance for CHOC and Junior Achievement. She is a founding member of the Orange County Performing Arts Center 500. Kulik earned her B.A. in management from California State University, Fullerton.
In an unprecedented move, Abbott Staffing additionally created four new positions in an effort to more strategically align its business services with a changing marketplace and capitalize on its strengths in the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino, which it serves and promoted the following executives to new positions: Ken Kuck, Vice President of Marketing; Loretta Johnson, Director of Sales; Kim Bromley, Director of Operations and Marianne Smith, Director of Business Information. The newly focused executive team also includes current CFO Angela T. Watkins and Laurie Smiley, Executive Vice President of Human Resources.
As part of that effort, Abbott also plans to build online communities that will reach out to young emerging professionals and prospective clients through the Internet resources familiar to them.
