Toyota Motor Europe (TME) today inaugurated its new parts centre in Krupka, the Czech Republic, as announced today on its media website http://www.toyota-media.com/euen/. The new facility, which represents an investment of %u20AC13.3 million, will enhance the delivery of service parts and accessories to some 250 Toyota and Lexus retailers in the Czech Republic and Eastern Germany. Toyota Parts Centre Czech Republic (TPCCZ) is TME's 16th parts centre, creating 50 new jobs and contributing an additional 12,000m2 in warehouse space. It marks the second major expansion of Toyota's European parts network this year, following the opening of its newly expanded European parts centre in Diest, Belgium, in June.
At today's ceremony, Toyota Motor Europe's President and CEO Mr. Tadashi Arashima said: "The motivation behind this investment is clear: as demand for Toyota and Lexus vehicles grows, our parts and service network must also expand. As we approach our 11th consecutive year of record growth, this facility plays an important role in helping us satisfy our growing customer base in Europe." TME has made significant efforts to minimise the environmental impact of the depot's construction by implementing strict energy conservation measures, such as the recuperation of rainwater for waste facilities. TPCCZ also aims to be IS0 14001 certified in 2008, bringing the total number of TME parts centres certified with the international environmental standard to 15, out of a total of 16 centres. Toyota is aiming to ensure all its European facilities -- design, production, logistics, parts and sales and marketing -- meet ISO 14001 by 2010 as part of Toyota's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of every aspect of its products' lifecycle.
According to the press release published on http://www.toyota-media.com/euen/ TPCCZ represents the latest Toyota investment in the Czech Republic joining the National Marketing and Sales Company (Toyota Motor Czech) in Prague and, most significantly, the vehicle manufacturing plant, Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech (TPCA), in Kolin. This joint venture with PSA Peugeot opened in 2005, employs around 3,000 people and has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units - 100,000 of which are Toyota AYGOs.
