The Gallery of Rockport, Texas Announces Sundowner Saturday, November 3, 2007

The Gallery of Rockport, Texas to showcase new work from artists Wade Butler, Jim La Paso and Bill Meek at Sundowner Saturday, November 3.

Rockport, TX (PRWEB) October 21, 2007 -- The Gallery Of Rockport is hosting a dynamic Sundowner Saturday on November 3rd. Featured Artists of the Month include Bill Meek with his powerful diamond-like glass sculptures, Jim La Paso with his unique and captivating kinetic sculptures and Wade Butler whose paintings of outdoor sporting art appear regularly on the covers of Texas Outdoors Journal.

Artist Bill Meek works in cold glass. This gives him the time to grind, polish and shape the glass as he wishes. It also allows him to construct pieces that are dramatically large. Friendly and unassuming, Bill says he sometimes feels that through his sculpture he is creating magic: "Nothing is more exciting than to watch the wonder and energy it creates." Bill will present a slide talk at 6 p.m. that evening of his glass art installations and huge architectural glass works.

When asked about his unique kinetic sculptures, artist Jim La Paso commented, "To me sculpture needs to be fun, fun to design and build and fun for those who observe it." Jim La Paso has sold pieces around the world and has had shows in Santa Fe and Taos New Mexico, New Orleans, Houston and Austin.

Artist Wade Butler has been painting Texas wildlife and landscapes for over 20 years. His art career began after fifteen years as a fisheries biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. His sporting scenes are in demand by collectors and he has been an exhibitor in some of the most prestigious wildlife shows in the United States.

The Gallery Of Rockport is located at 503 S. Austin Street. Gallery hours are 10 - 5 p.m. every day.
