Prestwick House Recognized in List of Top Publishing Companies to Work For in North America

Delaware-Based educational publisher, Prestwick House, was recognized for their commitment to employee well being in Book Business' 2007 Best Publishing Company to Work for in North America. The small publishing company was ranked among many of the most prestigious publishing companies in America, including Random House, Scholastic, and John Wiley and Sons for it's family-like support structure and comfortable work environment.

Smyrna, DE (PRWEB) October 21, 2007 -- Delaware-based, Prestwick House, Inc., was recognized in the October issue of Book Business magazine as number 12 of the top North American publishing companies.

"We've always been committed to the belief that by making work fun, we're able to come up with better books and be more productive," says General Manager Keith Bergstrom. "When you're on the phone and the person you're speaking with is smiling, you can tell. I think it's the same with all areas of business - you can tell when people like what they're doing, and it makes a difference."

Prestwick House supports its employees with a full range of benefits ranging from health, dental, and a 401-K to an in-office gym, tuition reimbursement, book allowances, and a comfortable coffee-shop-like workplace.

"When I come into work, it's almost like coming into a local coffee shop filled with friends," says Prestwick House writer, Darlene Gilmore. "The thing that helps keep things fun and interesting for us is that it's really satisfying to be able to help teachers. They're doing a tough job, and we're proud of being able to help them teach kids to love books like we do."

Book Business' first annual list of top North American publishing companies to work for was compiled from employee nominations and survey results. Each company was rated on factors such as pride in the company's performance, fairness of management, workload, and respect for the personal lives of employees.
