Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) October 23, 2007 -- Mehera Shaw announces the opening of its Jaipur, India production facility for small-scale production, wholesale and export of its own high-end label as well as for serving other independent designers. Owners, Shari and Mark Keller, began Mehera Shaw in 1999 out of their love of the indigenous textiles of India and a desire to work in an ecologically positive way. They have developed Mehera Shaw into a fashion house specializing in fine cottons and artisan-crafted, hand block prints from the Jaipur region of Rajasthan, India.
Mehera Shaw styles range from sophisticated casual wear to East/West fusion ensembles, incorporating many traditional printing and stitching techniques--all in natural fibers.
Designer Shari notes, "We create decidedly feminine clothing for the woman who loves beauty, color, and a bit of Indian mystique: the new Spice Chic." Their facility is able to produce their own line in small or exclusive lots as well as work with other designers within a similar niche of natural fibers and artisan prints. Shari adds, "We reallywant to work with other independent designers to allow them access to artisan-made styles on a small-scale."
Mehera Shaw is committed to ecological and fair made standards of production. They work in natural fibers and incorporate handloomed, organic cotton into each collection. Most collections use vegetable dyes as a reflection traditional and eco-friendly textile practices. Manyalso include the use of hand quilting and embroidery techniques to complement their lines.
Mehera Shaw is located in the Shastri Nagar area of Jaipur and online at www.meherashaw.com.
