The 2007 International Directory Assistance Conference and Awards took place this week at the Princesa Sofia hotel Barcelona. The highly successful event, sponsored by Market Location, included a two day conference featuring speakers and delegates from around the globe.
Following the two day networking event the second evening was dedicated to celebrating the positive aspects of the global directory assistance awards. The black tie gala dinner hosted by one of the UK's funniest live acts 'the singing waiters' was a roaring success. Guests were treated to a champagne reception and exquisite four course dinner. Jodie of DA insider commented; "this well attended two day conference is leading the way in the DA industry. The feedback we have received from delegates and sponsors has been very positive. The delegates had excellent opportunities to network and meet their colleagues and competitors from around the globe including on the night tour around the city. The evening is aimed at giving a relaxing pleasant end to the successful conference and I believe this was achieved".

As a celebration of this year's fantastic venue, Barcelona, the Best in Spain Award recognizes the best telephone Directory Assistance Service provider in Spain.
Best of Americas Service - Telus
After a very close decision last year saw the first Best Americas award being presented to Call Centre Americas in Columbia, closely beating Jingle. The winner of the 2007 Best Americas Award, with an inspiring approach to people is Telus.
Best International Service - SITEL Telecom 018 service
Sitel are the winners of this award for the third consecutive year.
Best Mobile Service - Infospace
The best mobile service needs to demonstrate Best Practice in the areas of: Consumer expectation, need and usability, Commercial Impact, Service Quality & Performance Management, use of Technology and of course innovation.

About the judging process:
The panel of Judges are leading experts from the directory assistance market. During the fair, secure and trusted process the judges are asked to rate the top three companies in each category 1st, 2nd and 3rd the votes are independently counted and the results are revealed. This open and independent approach towards the judging process means that all entrants can trust their entry will be fairly appraised against their competitors. Please note that judges that have entries in an award category will not judge that category.
