My whole body went numb and my heart just started racing. When I saw all the people just standing up the emotion just started flooding.

Josh Turner brought fans to their feet when he first appeared at the Grand Ole Opry in 2001. This week, Turner will be enshrined as a member of country music's august society when he is formally inducted as an Opry member. Millions of Josh Turner fans can see the ceremony live on Great American Country during GAC's Opry Live, October 27 at 8 p.m. ET. GAC will also present a one-hour documentary, Josh Turner: My Road to the Opry, at 7 p.m., one hour before the Opry Live presentation.

Josh Turner made his Opry debut in 2001, and says the invitation to join the Opry came as a complete surprise. In late September, Josh was on the Opry stage to present a plaque to Roy Clark commemorating his 20-year Opry membership, when Clark turned the tables, reading from an envelope attached to the plaque.

"Well, actually this is for you, Josh," Clark read. "It reads: How would you like to formally become a member of the Grand Ole Opry?"

"My heart started racing and there were tears coming to my eyes," Josh Turner recalled. "My whole body went numb and my heart just started racing. When I saw all the people just standing up the emotion just started flooding."

Josh Turner's initial Opry appearance six years ago remains one of the most memorable of the millennium, when he received standing ovations from an appreciative audience, even though very few had ever heard of the singer.

Following that auspicious introduction, Turner crafted two Platinum-certified albums (Long Black Train, Your Man), and two No. 1 country music singles ("Your Man," "Would You Go With Me"). His third album, Everything is Fine, will be released Oct. 30.

The documentary, Josh Turner: My Road to the Opry, takes GAC viewers behind the scenes for an intimate look at the life of Josh Turner. Shot in Nashville, on tour and in his hometown of Hannah, S.C., the program gives viewers a rare look into Turner's life not only as an artist, but as a loving husband and father. The special also highlights the music that has made Josh Turner a Platinum-selling artist, and includes exclusive footage from his current concert tour.

Opry member Vince Gill will formally induct Josh Turner into the Grand Ole Opry. In addition, this special edition of GAC's Opry Live includes performances by country music newcomer Rissi Palmer, and bluegrass artist Del McCoury.
