GES 2007's flagship conference to feature industry-leaders.

Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2007 (GES 2007) today unveiled the agenda for its anchor conference, Captains of Industry. This year's line up includes business leaders and innovators from leading businesses worldwide such as Google, World Bank, BMW, Phillips Electronics and Motorola. Senior executives from these organisations will speak at three topics that have been of global impact recently - Growth, Climate Change and Innovation. The Captains of Industry Conference, scheduled for November 13 and 14, presents the ideal platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences with attending C-level executives and senior business managers across various industries. GES 2007 is organised by Zenith Events Management and co-presented by the Singapore Business Federation and the Singapore Economic Development Board.

This year's Keynote Speaker is Mr Robert Tucker, President of The Innovation Resource, a leading consulting firm that provides companies with strategies to encourage innovation at various levels, from product to strategy. Commenting on the importance of encouraging innovation in the workplace, Mr. Tucker said, "Innovation is vital in today's business environment. Companies that don't employ innovative strategies at various levels of the organisation will inevitably get left behind. Creativity and new ideas don't just come from 'the creative department'; they can come from anyone in the organisation. CEOs need to start realising that."

Other speakers and topics on the first day of the conference include:

  •     Ms Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, Vice President, Asia-Pacific & Latin America Operations at Google Inc: Fast Mover Advantage - Speed Matters to the Growth of Businesses
  •     Mr David L. Cunningham Jr, President, Asia Pacific Division at FedEx Express: Achieving Growth through Reconstruction of New Supply Chain in Asia
  •     Dr Simon Leung, President, Motorola Asia-Pacific: New Growth Opportunities in a Sustainable Economy
  •     Mr Paul Peters, Chairman and CEO, Phillips Electronics Singapore: Deriving Growth Through Partnership of Enterprises

The second day of the conference is organised around two tracks running simultaneously.

Climate Change
The first track deals with the very real issue of Climate Change. Speakers will discuss issues such as the carbon trading initiative and how climate change has affected the day-to-day operations of businesses. The track is moderated by Mr. Paul Coutrier, whose distinguished credentials include Director of the Regional Institute of Environmental Technology (RIET), Chairman of the Indonesian Society of Environmental Professionals (ISEP), and Former Deputy Minister of Environment, Indonesia.

The greener agenda of this year's Captains of Industry is no coincidence. Mr. Gary Fung, Managing Director at Zenith Events Management, said "We are certainly looking to raise the profile of issues like carbon trading in Asia, especially given the immense economic growth in the region. Asia can play a leading role in spreading the sustainable development message, and Global Entrepolis @ Singapore this year is a very good example of how Asia can do just that."

Other speakers on the climate change track include:

  •     Mr Clive Mason, Senior Advisor at the World Bank: Business and Climate Change: Identifying the Common Ground
  •     Dr Mikael Román, Senior Researcher at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI): Business and Climate Change: Identifying the Common Ground
  •     Mr Yuvaraj Dinesh Babu, Chief Operating Officer at the Asia Carbon Group: The Business Case for Carbon Investment: Launching into New Dimension

Innovation
Building on the tone set by the keynote, the Innovation track touches on innovation at various levels of an organisation, across verticals ranging from finance to technology.

Mr Koh Juan Kiat, Executive Director of the Singapore Business Federation, emphasised the importance of innovation in the face of competition. "Our Captains of Industry will be able to talk about solutions to boosting your business through innovation. This is one of the main reasons we hold this conference - GES is a great platform for such knowledge and experiences to be shared across all industries and levels by industry leaders," he said.

The track features industry leaders such as:

  •     Mr Roland Krueger, Managing Director of BMW Asia Pte Ltd: New Growth Opportunities in a Sustainable Economy
  •     Mr Kishore Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of I-flex Solutions Pte Ltd: Technology Innovation : Be Distinct or Extinct
  •     Dr Steve Lai, Chief Executive Officer of PSB Corporation Pte Ltd: Innovation - The Asian Opportunities
