Portent Interactive CEO Ian Lurie is speaking at Search Marketing Expo (SMX), premiering this year in its new location Stockholm, Sweden. Industry professionals from around the world will attend the conference Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

Portent Interactive CEO Ian Lurie is speaking at Search Marketing Expo (SMX), premiering this year in its new location Stockholm, Sweden. Industry professionals from around the world will attend the conference Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

Search marketing is the centerpiece of this two-day conference, and Lurie will participate in a panel discussion titled "Search Advertising Options and Strategies." The panel will focus on strategies for planning and managing paid search marketing campaigns.

Lurie will be drawing on his twelve years of internet marketing experience during his tenure at the expo. "So much of search is trial and error," said Lurie. "My hope for the conference is to help people benefit from my many years of ahem, trial, and use the knowledge I've gained to teach smarter, more successful search techniques to others."
Lurie says he will focus on techniques for minimizing waste and maximizing user engagement from paid search.

"Pay per click (paid search) marketing focuses on getting more clicks and maximizing conversion," Lurie says, "But many campaigns don't have a clear conversion point, like a sale. These campaigns tend to waste a lot of money on keywords and ads that don't generate significant engagement."

Lurie will be speaking on October 31, at 1:30 PM.

About Ian Lurie
Ian graduated from UCLA Law school in 1993. He enjoyed the experience so much that he never practiced law, choosing instead to work as a typist, then a bike messenger, then a writer, and finally started his own information design company in 1995.
