Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2007
Acclaimed action writer and director Mike Gunther debuted his highly anticipated short feature film '6th and Santa Fe' in Hollywood October 18 to a standing room only crowd of celebrities, agents and managers at Social Hollywood. The film, which stars Will Yun Lee ('Bionic Woman,' 'Fallen,' 'Elektra'), Kurt Caceres ('Prison Break') and Jerrod Cornish, is already generating an extraordinary amount of buzz from Hollywood insiders and is slated to debut on the upcoming film festival circuit.
'6th and Santa Fe,' executive produced by Mike Behrman, is the first feature film to be distributed from Gunny Entertainment (http://www.gunnyentertainment.com). The newly launched company offers programming in a variety of visual mediums from theatrical films to television and web content and has an exciting slate of projects in development.
"I was thrilled to share this film with the Hollywood community and such a receptive and
enthusiastic audience," said Gunther. "'6th and Santa Fe' is the first of many high quality, cutting-edge projects from Gunny Entertainment which was formed by my desire to bring a completely new and bold approach to the creative art of filmmaking."
Mike Gunther, who is reinventing the 'triple threat' as an action writer, director and producer, is renowned for his expertise and experience in 'all things action' including key roles in the success of such blockbusters as 'The Matrix Revolutions,' 'Elektra,' 'Underworld: Evolution,' 'Van Helsing,' 'xXx: State of the Union' and the acclaimed television series' 'Fallen' and 'Angel.' Gunther is a member of both the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA).
In addition to his impressive film credentials, Gunther recently delivered his fifth project, 'Inside the Action,' which he created and produced for MTV. 'Inside the Action' takes viewers behind-the-scenes into the making of action sequences for some of today's hottest films. The most recent installment of 'Inside the Action' focused on the blockbuster 'Live Free or Die Hard' starring Bruce Willis. Previous projects Mike has completed for MTV include movie promotion specials for 'The Dukes of Hazzard' (2005), 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby' (2006), 'Underworld: Evolution' (2006) and 'Ghost Rider' (2007) all of which opened up number one at the box office thanks in large part to the advance promotion of the MTV specials.
'6th and Santa Fe,' written and directed by Gunther, was filmed entirely on location in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The gritty, urban drama revolves around three best friends that pull off a diamond heist that goes bad and them settling the score. The film combines the film noir attributes of modern classics like 'Reservoir of Dogs' and 'Boondock Saints' with the philosophical underpinnings that have become a hallmark of Mike Gunther and writing/producing partner Mike Behrman's scripts.
