Veganline.com Makes a Batch of Camouflage Boots for Retail

A small vegan shoe company saw London's massive poster campaign for camouflage Jungle Boots to promote the Imperial War Museum, so they got some similar looking boots made at a local shoe factory.

London, UK (PRWEB) October 27, 2007 -- A small vegan shoe company saw London's massive poster campaign for camouflage Jungle Boots to promote the Imperial War Museum, so they got some similar looking boots made at a local shoe factory.

"Veganline.com does not normally advertise", said John Robertson, the founder, "but we are happy to take advantage".

The boots follow a general trend towards camouflage gear and environmentally gentler, more ethical products that was also seen at London Fashion Week earlier in the month. They are made by a UK company known for its Solovair boots, made in fair employment conditions. The factory is one of a handful of surviving UK shoe makers.

The boots have already sold in Australia, Poland, and London itself.

"There's a lot about ethical footwear in the press", says John, "but a lot of what gets called ethical is made in by Chinese labour out of leather. It takes more acres of land to feed a meat eater and provide leather than it does to feed and clothe a vegan, and over-farming is a major cause of deforestation. "

The Vegan Society has made the same point in it's downloadable report "Eating the Earth", which it will promote on World Vegan Day, November the 1st, and the United Nations has provided pages of careful evidence in its report "Livestock's Long Shadow".

The environment is not the only reason for boycotting livestock, leather & meat: cruelty to animals is often the most compelling one, and the Veganline.com web site includes a list of reasons on its why? page.
