We will continue to explore other ways that we can expand our relationship with other managed care organizations around the country

Braunfels, TX (PRWEB) October 25, 2007 -- The SCOOTER Store announced today a new partnership with HealthPlus of Michigan to provide mobility products and services to HealthPlus of Michigan's 200,000-plus commercial, Medicare Advantage, HealthPlus Partners Medicaid, and HealthPlus Insurance Company(PPO) members requiring power wheelchairs and scooters.

The SCOOTER Store, which is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC), is the nation's leading provider of power mobility equipment to seniors and people with mobility impairments. In 2006, HealthPlus of Michigan's Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid insurance programs were cited as being among "America's Best Health Plans 2006" by U.S. News and World Report.

"We are proud that HealthPlus of Michigan selected us to serve the mobility needs of their diverse membership," said Dan Gibbens, executive vice president of The SCOOTER Store. "We are dedicated to helping HealthPlus of Michigan and other managed care partners understand the long-term cost benefits to improving the mobility of people with impairments while ensuring their members receive the most appropriate equipment. When their mobility is increased by power wheelchairs and scooters, the added independence can substantially reduce care costs."

Mr. Gibbens said the new partnership means that HealthPlus members will have in-network coverage for power mobility devices from The SCOOTER Store, and will receive equipment that can help them retain their freedom and independence.

The HealthPlus of Michigan partnership exemplifies the extraordinary growth of The SCOOTER Store's Managed Care Division. Since it began operations in 2001, the division now has over 90 partnerships covering over 114 million people nationally. The growth has been facilitated by a strategy of focusing on building relationships through personal attention and innovative programs. The division has a staff of more than 40 quality-trained Mobility Consultants and Physician Specialists who work with patients, their physicians and their insurance companies to obtain medical documentation and verify benefits and eligibility.

"We will continue to explore other ways that we can expand our relationship with other managed care organizations around the country," Mr. Gibbens said. "Our goal is to improve the quality of life for seniors and people living with disabilities while saving valuable healthcare dollars."
