Illusion Television LLC (operator of Illusion On-Demand) announced today that it has offset its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, the country's leading carbon solutions organization. Illusion has offset all carbon emissions related to the operation of the science fiction network's Illusion On-Demand. This commitment places Illusion as environmental leaders in the video-on-demand community.
"Being a science fiction company, we feel a serious responsibility to preserve the planet's future in any way we can. All of the partners and employees here at Illusion have taken great care in both our business and personal lives to reduce environmental impact," said Dekker Dreyer, president of Illusion Television. "For example, two of our three founders only travel by automobile under 20 miles a week; our third founder drives a hybrid. More importantly, we've phased out the use of non-biodegradable video tape, in favor of digital storage, when archiving our productions along. Additionally, we exclusively use energy efficient fluorescent lighting in shooting our original shows. We've also reduced 90% of our paper usage by using digital documents whenever possible. Offsetting 100% of our carbon emissions via Carbonfund.org is just one more piece of the puzzle."
"The media industry is an essential partner in the fight for a clean energy future. We are extremely pleased to have Illusion Television join the CarbonFreeTM program. More partners like them will ensure that a healthy future for our planet won't become the stuff of science fiction," Carbonfund.org Executive Director Eric Carlson said.
