The Project Management Templates help project teams to perform the complex planning phase in a project, by telling them which tasks to complete, how and when to do it. Method123 released 15 new templates to assist in the planning of projects.
"It is critical that teams properly complete the planning phase in a project," says Jason Westland, CEO of Method123. "In our experience, teams often just create a rudimentary plan for managing their project. They then get stuck into the execution phase, without any formal definition of their project scope or objectives. Instead, special care is needed to ensure that the project is well planned and that the team have adequately planned for the work, effort, resource, timeframes and money needed to complete their project. At the end of the day, if you try and save time by cutting corners during the Planning phase, then you will waste time and effort trying to manage the project later on."
The templates announced today, help managers to thoroughly complete the planning phase in a project. "Yes our new template pack does include a detailed Project Plan. But other planning documents are also just included, such as the Resource Plan, Financial Plan and Quality Plan. And if you're managing a reasonably large sized project, you'll also need to complete a Risk Plan, Acceptance Plan and Communications Plan for your project team. We now have templates to cover each of these tasks properly," says Westland.
In addition to these templates, Method123 have also approached the appointment of external suppliers to a project. As such, a Procurement Plan has been included to allow a project team to formally define the elements of the project that will be outsourced to an external provider.
A Tender Management Process template is then provided to help the project team to put in place a fair process for the appointment of suppliers, otherwise known as vendors. At this point, three additional templates will be used to select a preferred supplier to a project. These templates include the 'Statement of Work', 'Request for Information' and 'Request for Proposal'.
"By using these templates, managers will be able to select the best supplier available for their project. They can then use the Supplier Contract template to strike a formal contract with the supplier and agree on a set of milestones against which they will be managed. Only by putting in place formal milestones for the creation of project deliverables, can a project manager actually ensure that the supplier delivers everything as promised," says Westland.
Method123 also have a suite of other template products in addition to those recently announced. This includes a set of templates for initiating, executing and closing projects effectively. In addition, their project management methodologies give managers and teams all of the project management tools needed to succeed.
In the future, they intend to provide customized templates for each industry around the world. "Having a suite of project templates for all project types is not enough," says Westland. "We want to expand into the Construction, IT, Telecoms and Engineering industries to name a few, by providing customized templates to meet their specific industry-based requirements."
Method123 have maintained a high rate of growth since they went live. In the next few years, they hope to become one of the largest project management providers available over the web.
