QSI Corporation's VTERM-J mobile data terminal (MDT) has been deployed as part of Everyday Wireless's school bus and pupil tracking solution. The VTERM-J in-vehicle terminal allows Everyday Wireless to include driver login/logout, rider on/off, vehicle inspection and emergency text messaging capabilities with their existing GPS-based pupil transportation solution. Additionally, the use of the VTERM-J supplements Everyday Wireless's existing two-way voice communication system by displaying emergency contact information.
"This rugged mobile data terminal will add significant safety and efficiency features to the core Everyday Wireless product offerings, said Dave Pettine, Everyday Wireless's vice president of sales and marketing. "As with all of our new product development and integration efforts, the addition of the VTERM-J MDT increases the scalability and flexibility of our solution suite."
QSI's VTERM-J mobile data terminal is a simple character terminal that includes an LCD character display and custom keypad legend to easily interface with the user. The terminal is available with an EIA-232, -422 or 5 volt buffered serial interface; a Supertwist 20x4 LCD display with lighted or VFD display options; and an 18-, 24, or 40-key customizable keypad.
"Everyday Wireless's decision to use a QSI MDT once again proves that QSI provides world-class mobile data terminals that are rugged, powerful, economical and highly configurable to a wide range of users," said Tyler Phillips, QSI Corporation's vehicle products manager. "We are confident that Everyday Wireless will find the VTERM-J a valuable addition to their product offering."
The VTERM-J has been deployed by the thousands in a variety of in-vehicle mobile applications where customers require simple MDT functionality at a low-cost.
