Although Simply-Docs have made their reputation by creating a vast online library of legal documents and business templates to small companies, they are showing they have their playful side as well. The company has uploaded a selection of Curriculum Vitae bloopers and blunders that should make any budding applicant laugh or cringe in horror and desperately check their latest CV one more time. Managers who want to vent their frustrations by adding to the fun are encouraged to email in the most amusing lines they have seen padding a CV, and the best three each month will win a complimentary 6 month subscription to the site. The hilarious mistakes can be found at http://www.simply-docs.co.uk/cvbloopers.html
The six month subscriptions being offered as prizes cover every facet of legal documentation for small to medium sized businesses from company formation and finance, contracting with customers and suppliers, hiring and firing staff to managing health and safety. The document templates are kept updated with the latest changes to the law, ensuring that managers are always one step ahead and can avoid costly regulatory breaches and legal disputes. An annual subscription with unlimited access to all the information and business documents would normally cost £95, making the prize in the competition a tempting incentive.
Simply-Docs' Managing Director, Iain Mackintosh, explained why he took the time out of his busy schedule to upload these Curriculum Vitae blunders: "Reading through job application forms, CVs and other business documents can be pretty tiring, but occasionally you see an ironic mistake - like someone misspelling 'meticulous' - or something completely off the wall which raises a smile. We've tried to celebrate them here," he said. "We want managers to take a break and have a laugh. Obviously it's great that we can help them keep their company legal with up to date information and business templates in the process," he added.
Writing a Curriculum Vitae that advertises your finest qualities rather than your worst is all important, as Aleksey Vayner found to his peril. The Yale student made blog and mainstream headlines last year when his video CV entitled "impossible is nothing" leaked onto the internet and still holds YouTube mirrors and a Wikipedia entry in his honour. The mistakes shown on the Simply Docs site do not show quite the same level of overall cringe-worthiness as Aleksey Vayner's effort, but are no less hilarious. The page covers simple typos ("I possess excellent poofreading skills I am sure will be beneficial for the role.") to ambiguous sentences ("My duties included greeting laundrette customers, removing their clothes, and washing them") and bizarre statements ("I have an excellent track record, although I must point out that I am not a horse"). Although the list is quite short at the moment, Simply-Docs hope it will grow and by offering the incentive of a free six month account, they are hoping busy managers will see a reason to take time out of their day to take a minute to contribute to the joke.
Simply-docs is the latest fulfilment of Simply-4-Business Limited's mission to enable small and medium enterprises and owner managers to put in place correct documentation and procedures, and then to keep pace and comply with regulatory change at an affordable cost.
The company provide over 1100 legal documents and templates, covering all aspects of business from employment law to health and safety regulations. By providing these legal documents (with content provided by leading commercial lawyers, HR and health & safety consultants) at an affordable price, the company intends to help small businesses avoid costly breaches of regulation and legal action.
