Contract increases from $1.4 to $7.3 million comprising the entire VHA system.

Network Federal, a reseller and systems integrator that helps technology companies identify, capture and manage government business, announced that their contract award with the VHA (Veterans Health Administration) has been increased from $1.4 million to $7.3 million. Network Federal and its teaming partner, ScImage, will deploy a picture archiving and communication (PAC) system across the VHA's hospital network helping them increase the quality of diagnostic interpretations, workflow efficiencies and equipment utilization.

Rob Tinker, National Operations Manager for ScImage said, "We knew we had the best solution for the VHA, but we hadn't navigated federal government channels before, while Network Federal does this every day. Network Federal's offered us the opportunity to get on their Schedule immediately and qualify for VHA consideration in a 'down to the wire' situation." Virtually overnight, Network Federal was able to add ScImage's products to its GSA Schedule Contract to capture this contract with the government. Since the contract award, Network Federal and its parent company Winvale have been able to place ScImage on its own GSA Schedule Contract, now allowing them to sell their products and services both direct and indirectly to government agencies.

A GSA Multiple Awards Schedule enables firms to contract directly with government agencies. According to Kevin Lancaster, a Managing Partner with Network Federal, it is a tedious and time consuming process to get on the GSA Schedule. The process usually takes a minimum of three to six months. During this time, GSA evaluates a vendor's capabilities, organizational structure, performance history, and customer satisfaction to determine if it possesses the qualifications to become an approved vendor. "When time is an issue, as it was for ScImage, Network Federal can place a company on its Schedule, significantly shorten the process. Once a company is placed on our GSA schedule, we can then begin the process of establishing their GSA Schedule Contract ensuring that they don't miss out on any opportunity to sell to the government" said Lancaster.

Network Federal not only assists companies in capturing their first piece of government business, but also guides them through the entire government contracting process--including RFP development, proposal management, sub-contractor identification, phase-in planning, and on-going contract management support. Tinker said, "For ScImage, the support of Network Federal meant that we not only got the initial contract of $1.4 million and the increase to $7.3 million, but, also the pride in knowing that VHA's employees and the citizens they serve will benefit from our technology solutions."
