The list is made up of 75 companies split into three categories: 20 small-sized companies (25-74 employees), 25 medium-sized companies (75-249 employees) and 30 large-sized companies (250 and more employees).

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Texas with assistance from ModernThink LLC, who analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
