Global Manufacturer Uses CareerTV Recruitment Videos To Give An Edge To Their Hiring Process
"It is a perfect way for us to push out our message in an appealing way to the millennium generation," says Maureen Crawford, Manager of Talent Acquisition at OSRAM SYLVANIA. As the recruitment market becomes more competitive, increasing numbers of employers are starting to brand themselves using video.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Francisco, Calif., October 31, 2007 -- One of the world's largest lighting manufacturers, uses CareerTV recruitment videos to highlight careers within the company.
"CareerTV is our first foray into video. It is a perfect way for us to push out our message in an appealing way to the millennium generation," says Maureen Crawford, Manager of Talent Acquisition at OSRAM SYLVANIA. "We are constantly looking for top candidates within all fields of business."
OSRAM SYLVANIA is part of the Siemens family of companies. They manufacture and market a wide range of lighting products to major industries worldwide. The company employs about 11,200 people in North America and is headquartered in Danvers, Mass.
"Being a 100 year old manufacturing company, it is especially critical for us at OSRAM SYLVANIA to demonstrate for young professionals that we are a bleeding-edge company," explains Crawford. "By having CareerTV produce and host our videos, we took a step in the right direction to recruit top candidates. It is still too early to measure the results, but I am 100% confident the outcome is going to be very positive."
CareerTV has produced two videos for OSRAM SYLVANIA. The first one is a school-book example of a professional employer branding video. It takes the viewer on a "real-life-tour" featuring different environments and aspects of what it is like working for OSRAM SYLVANIA. The second video is a Recruiter Q&A for first time job applicants with valuable information about what to think of before and during an interview.
"Through video we can successfully communicate our image and our values," Crawford says. "The platform CareerTV offers plays a very important role for how we are perceived among young professionals. Many students think of an interview as a conversation, not as a sales pitch. It is important to educate applicants about interviewing skills because that will facilitate the recruitment process both for the candidate and the recruiter."
"This new media is exploding, and it is easy to see why. Video is the best and most effective way to reach out to young professionals today," adds Crawford, who has also worked as college career advisor and has extensive experience recruiting young professionals.
"The trend is clear - online recruitment videos are a critical new and differentiating recruitment tool," notes Jim Buttimer, COO of CareerTV. "If a picture paints a thousand words, imagine how much a video says about your company!"
