A wonderful benefit of the Internet is that so much information is freely available and can be condensed into unique resources
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) November 6, 2007
For nearly ten years, the independent publisher Fearless Books has been providing free and comprehensive information about mainstream and alternative routes to publication in its online "How to Get Published Guide." Now this guide has passed an Internet milestone by becoming the top-ranked resource on both Google and Yahoo for the search term "how to get published."
The Guide offers valuable information and up-to-date links in eight major categories, including Agency Representation, The Independent Press, Co-op Publishing, Electronic Publishing, Self-Publishing, A Special Note to Poets, Screenwriting, and a link-list of General Reference Sites. Helpful books in each category are displayed and linked to Amazon for easy ordering, and Miller takes care to update the Guide regularly. The Fearless How to Get Published Guide is online at http://www.fearlessbooks.com/PublishingGuide.html.
Unlike most online resources offering publishing advice, Fearless Books is not in the print-on-demand business itself. Started as a self-publishing firm in 1997 by founder D. Patrick Miller, Fearless has provided several public services since going online in 1998, including the Guide and two free directories of independent bookstores worldwide, the Fearless Independents and Fearless Antiquarians. Fearless has released six titles by Miller and the best-selling metaphysics title "The Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary R. Renard, now a Hay House title with over 200,000 copies in print worldwide. Miller is a long-term member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), serving as the Publicity Director for the northern California chapter. He is also a member of Publishers Marketing Association, the leading organization of independent publishers.
Miller is currently transitioning out of independent publishing himself, concentrating on writing for other publishers. His next book will be "Understanding a Course in Miracles," to be released by Celestial Arts/TenSpeed in June 2008. Miller also provides editing, manuscript critiques, and literary consulting/coaching for other authors, agents, and publishers. His website is currently in transition from a focus on book sales to professional services, but he plans to keep his public service pages online indefinitely.
"A wonderful benefit of the Internet is that so much information is freely available and can be condensed into unique resources," comments Miller. "I'm proud that my publishing guide and independent bookstore directories have proven useful to so many over time, and I look forward to deepening and diversifying these services."
The two Fearless bookstore directories are online at http://www.fearlessbooks.com/Indies.html and http://www.fearlessbooks.com/Antiquarians.html. Independent, brick-and-mortar bookstores worldwide are invited to join these lists at no charge at http://www.fearlessbooks.com/IndiesInvite.html.
