Skincare Mini-Spa: Facial Cleansing Skin Care Tips

Skincare-News.com shares quick tips to make every daily cleansing a beneficial experience.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) November 19, 2007 -- Think daily cleansing is a trivial step in a beauty routine? Think again. Although facial cleansing is one of the most important steps of a skincare regimen, it is widely misunderstood. Skincare-News.com's latest article, "A Cleaner Clean?" shares a multitude of reasons why proper cleansing is a vital part of achieving a glowing complexion.

For all skin types, a good basic cleansing routine should start off with washing the face twice a day. According to the article, splashing some water does very little for the skin aside from making the skin wet -- it will not even remove dirt. Most cleansers are packed with beneficial ingredients and will improve the look, tone, texture and clarity of the skin. Cleanser should be applied using clean hands to avoid spreading dirt and bacteria to the face.

Properly cleansed skin should feel clean but not stripped, and may feel slightly tight or taut, especially when using a cleanser with an acid such as salicylic or glycolic. However, if the skin hurts after cleansing, it's time to re-evaluate. After cleansing, follow-up with the appropriate toner and moisturizer to complete the beauty regimen.

Also, eyes will need special attention. Eye makeup, mascara and liners are all specially pigmented. All traces of eye makeup should be removed each day using a gentle eye-makeup remover.

Although a lot of people use hands to cleanse, there are other options. An old standby is the washcloth. And while a washcloth may feel nice on the skin and will act as a mild exfoliator, washcloths also harbor an unbelievable amount of bacteria. People should use a clean, fresh washcloth each day to avoid bacteria buildup.

Facial cleansing sponges are growing in popularity, inexpensive and often disposable making them very good options. After each use, cleanse the facial sponge with a bacteria-busting formula to ensure it is squeaky clean and ready for the next use.

Another exciting way to cleanse the skin is with a facial cleansing brush. These brushes, normally made with super-soft bristles, are an excellent choice for all skin types, and will quickly and gently break down foundation or makeup. Even better, they are easy to use; simply apply cleanser to the wet brush and scrub gently in a circular motion. To keep the facial brush clean, wash in hot water with an anti-bacterial soap, and let dry. With proper care, a facial cleansing brush should last anywhere from 6 months to a year.

Keeping the face clean may seem like a no-brainer, but many people skimp on this important step.

Pollution, dirt, grime and bacteria can have drastic effects on the skin, which is why making a consistent, daily cleansing routine is critical for every skin type, concern or condition.
