Jiri Stejskal Becomes President of American Translators Association

The American Translators Association (ATA) today announced that Jiri Stejskal will take over as president for a two-year term. The ATA is the nation's largest professional organization for translators and interpreters with over 10,400 members from 80 countries.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) November 16, 2007 -- The American Translators Association (ATA) today announced that Jiri Stejskal will take over as president for a two-year term. The ATA is the nation's largest professional organization for translators and interpreters with over 10,400 members from 80 countries.

"I am honored to serve as President of an organization that has grown by leaps and bounds in an increasingly global economy whose need for translators and interpreters is unprecedented," said Stejskal. "It is my hope to continue to see the ATA grow and continue to flourish during my term as President."

Jiri Stejskal is the founder and president of CETRA, Inc., a language services provider based in the Philadelphia area. Stejskal earned both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania, an Executive MBA degree at Temple University, and has more than 20 years of experience as a translator. He has also taught undergraduate and graduate language courses at the University of Pennsylvania since 1990.

Stejskal also served as ATA Treasurer from 2001 to 2005 and President-Elect from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, Stejskal serves as Treasurer of the American Foundation for Translation and Interpretation, and Chairman of the Status Committee of the International Federation of Translators.
