New Physician's Symposium Taps Billion-dollar Weight Management Industry

Physicians are in a unique position to help their patients with effective weight loss strategies, and this symposium will give them the information needed to develop an effective, healthy, balanced approach to weight loss for their patients.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 16, 2007 -- Physicians who are interested in helping their patients with weight loss issues can now attend a two-day conference on the latest treatment techniques for weight management. Physicians are in a unique position to help their patients with effective weight loss strategies, and this symposium will give them the information needed to develop an effective, healthy, balanced approach to weight loss for their patients.

"Physicians need to learn a multi-faceted approach to weight management," says Jeff Russell, Executive Director of The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM). "Studies show that 66.3% of adults over twenty are overweight or obese, and these patients need weight loss help."

According to MarketData research, over 72 million Americans are dieting, making weight loss in the US a $58 billion industry. Patients with weight issues, whether they be 10lbs overweight or morbidly obese have often tried all the retail options to reduce their weight.

Industry leaders in weight management will lecture at this conference on the latest research and treatment options. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with aesthetic physicians from a broad group of specialties while learning to add weight management treatments into their practice.

"For the first time ever we will bring together our members and other physicians who are either practicing medical weight management or are looking at adding it to their existing practice," says Russell. "We are going to tie in everything from various prescription and hormones options, to the latest in ultrasound and laser equipment."

Medical weight management now consists of many treatment options that weren't previously available, including prescription drug options, hormones, nutrition, and exercise, while also incorporating equipment for bariatric surgery, cellulite management, and the latest in liposuction and body contouring. "To be a successful physician in the weight loss industry, you need to include multiple treatment options, and that's what we are going to cover over the weekend," says Russell.

The Medical Weight Management Symposium will be held in Newport Beach, California March 29-30, 2008. More information about the symposium can be accessed through www.weightmanagementsymposium.com.

IAPAM is a voluntary association of physicians and supporters that sets standards for the aesthetic medical profession. The goal of the association is to offer education, ethical standards, credentialing, and member benefits. IAPAM membership is open to licensed medical doctors (MDs) and doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs).
