Persony Releases Web Conferencing 2.0 API

Persony web conferencing API allows Web 2.0 services to seamlessly add real-time collaboration.

Los Gatos, CA (PRWEB) November 16, 2007 -- Persony, Inc. a leading developer of private label web and video conferencing software, today announced the release of its Web Conferencing 2.0 API. The API allows any Web 2.0 services to easily and seamlessly add real-time web and video conferencing features to their services.

Persony Web Conferencing 2.0 is a Flash®-based web and video conferencing solution that allows meeting participants to share their desktop, webcams, photos, presentation slides, whiteboard, streaming video and audio, all from an easy-to-use web interface, and without downloading special software. Persony licenses software to customers or service providers that host it using their own web servers.

The REST-style API, similar to those used by Google and Facebook, is designed for simple integration with other web services and is programming language independent. Client services use standard HTTP GET, POST, PUT and DELETE methods to access, create, change and delete objects in a private label Persony Web Conferencing 2.0 site that can be embedded in a client service. For example, a client service can create a new member, schedule a meeting, invite attendees, start a meeting and get a list of meeting attendees, all using the API. The API provides a set of client callback hooks that are invoked when certain meeting events occur. For example, when a member launches a meeting, a client service callback can redirect the member to a custom meeting page. The API also supports OpenSAM Single-Sign-On (SSO) API to allow a client service to authenticate and sign in a member.

A number of Web 2.0 services are in the process of adding support for the Persony Web Conferencing 2.0 API. ShareMethods, one of the Persony reseller partners, has used the API to add real-time web collaboration to their ShareOffice product, an on-demand document collaboration application running on Salesforce.com's AppExchange platform.

The Web Conferencing 2.0 API is available immediately to all Persony customers and resellers free of charge. Developers can access the Web Conferencing 2.0 API documentation at http://now.persony.com/?page=HELP.
