Growth Prompts Senior Appointment at Equiom

Clare Faulds has been appointed Legal Counsel at Equiom Trust Company Limited. The appointment is one of the most senior made by the company since its foundation in December 2006.

(PRWEB) November 17, 2007 -- Clare Faulds has been appointed Legal Counsel at Equiom Trust Company Limited. The appointment is one of the most senior made by the company since its foundation in December 2006, when members of the management team, of what was then Anglo Irish Trust Company Limited, led a management buyout to form Equiom.

Commenting on the new appointment, Barry Smith, Director and Senior Legal Counsel at Equiom said, "We are delighted that Clare has joined us. She has had an extremely successful and varied career and will bring a unique blend of experience in both legal practice and trust and company administration to her new role. In addition, she has hands on experience in senior management roles in the industrial and financial services sector and has also given distinguished service in the government and public sectors. Her appointment will both add to the capacity of the senior management team, and underpin our capacity for future growth".

Clare Faulds came to the Isle of Man in 1964 and attended the Buchan School. Leaving school she was articled to T W Cain and Sons and in 1973 she was admitted to the Manx Bar, in so doing became the first woman advocate in the Isle of Man. After eleven years with Cains she had a four year period as an independent advocate, after which she spent a brief spell at Simcocks before becoming a partner at Corlett Bolton & Company in 1993. In 2004, she left the Island to become Senior Magistrate, Coroner and Acting Supreme Court Judge in the Falkland Islands, returning to the Isle of Man in 2007.

She is currently Chairman of the Isle of Man Income Tax Commissioners and is Vicar General of the Diocese of Sodor and Man. Previous roles have included Member of the Council of the Isle of Man Law Society, Company Secretary and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Britannia International Limited, Acting Deputy High Bailiff and Coroner of Inquests Isle of Man, and chairmanships of several statutory tribunals. She was also Acting Deemster in 1997, and again between 2004 - 2006.

Commenting on her new role, Clare said, "I had come across some members of the Equiom team when the company was in its previous incarnations, particularly when it was the Ernst & Young trust business on the Island. I knew of their reputation, and had always admired the way they did business. Even while I was in the Falklands word of the formation of Equiom filtered through.

"When I returned to the Island, I was looking for something new and fresh to do, and Equiom's culture and orientation appeal greatly to me. I was particularly attracted by the way in which Equiom builds on its heritage, while combining it with new ideas. I'm greatly looking forward to being part of the team."
