Each story describes the patient's encounter with the healthcare system and healthcare providers, the challenges that the patient faced, and how the patient successfully managed the challenge. A positive attitude and being proactive on the part of the patient were key in each case. The stories reflect the need for every one of us to be responsible for our own healthcare.
Brief descriptions of positive experiences are included between each of the eleven key stories. The brief descriptions were submitted by real patients as part of a web-based survey.
