Brayton Purcell Supports the Garden of Eatin'

Brayton Purcell supports the North Bay Children Center's (NBCC) Garden of Eatin', the child care center's innovative program that uses an on-site organic garden to teach children about gardening and nutrition.

Novato, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2007 -- Brayton Purcell supports the North Bay Children Center's (NBCC) Garden of Eatin', the child care center's innovative program that uses an on-site organic garden to teach children about gardening and nutrition. Currently, Brayton Purcell and NBCC, along with other supporters, are involved with a garden expansion project at the NBCC to make the garden even bigger. The children enjoy the garden as an activity -- they grow, plant, harvest and eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day. The wonderful garden provides a variety of fresh, organic food, such as sweet cherry tomatoes, pear-apples, green beans and sugar snap peas. Through gardening, children can learn about the planting cycle, and how fruits and vegetables are a natural source of vitamins and minerals. The garden also provides an opportunity to develop healthy eating habits that will last throughout their lifetime. Brayton Purcell strongly supports the idea that children can learn healthy eating habits at an early age, and that programs like those operated by NBCC will help fight obesity and the health problems that are associated with obesity that often begins in childhood.

Kaiser Permanente is featuring NBCC's garden program for its healthy living ad campaign. Kaiser's commercial will feature the garden, teachers and children engaged in activities that encourage healthy eating and active living. Photo shots will include children and staff working in the garden, planting seedlings in the greenhouse and participating in NBCC's Physical Education program.

NBCC is a non-profit organization that provides year round child care and family support to over 1,350 families. NBCC raises money through corporate grants, private foundations, government contracts and individual donations in order to support the variety of services and programs to help the community. Brayton Purcell has long been a proud supporter of their efforts and applauds their exceptional service to our local community.
