MvixUSA's MX 760-HD Unit is a Workhorse for The Saturday Light Brigade
Award-winning public radio program The Saturday Light Brigade uses MvixUSA's MX 760-HD to deliver content to the 52" LCD screen in its studio at the Childrens Museum of Pittsburgh. The donated units provides Wireless access, Ethernet connection, as well as both DVI output and component video output.
(PRWEB) November 22, 2007 -- This summer MvixUSA donated the MX-760-HD, its state-of-the-art network ready multimedia device, to support the work of SLB Radio Productions (SLB), producers of The Saturday Light Brigade for use at its studio located within the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. Broadcasting since 1978 with an audience of more than 75,000 listeners a year, The Saturday Light Brigade is an award-winning program of engaging, participatory radio for children and adults.
In early 2007 SLB Radio Productions installed a 52-inch LCD screen in its main studio to illustrate their work when the studio was not in use, to mirror the screens that their technicians and engineers see so that children could also see them, and to serve as a teaching tool during workshops. While the LCD screen was a success, problems arose with the available means of delivering media to the display. Frustrated that a computer needed to be dedicated to the display, SLB considered high-end digital signage solutions but the enormous expense and overly complex functionality were a poor fit for the organization. At the same time low-priced flash based units had limited capacity, could not be programmed without an external PC, and often did not have the professional video outputs they needed.
That's when SLB discovered the Mvix MX-760HD and the emerging market of hard-drive based media centers. The Mvix MX-760HD stood out as the clear choice when comparing the unit to others in its field. The unit's Ethernet connectivity allows SLB to stream content from their off-site offices to the studio. And with wireless capability built in, SLB engineers can use their Wifi-enabled laptops to manage content on the units. Not only does the unit have both DVI output and component video output, but its industrial build quality fits right into SLB's industrial-grade, $250,000 digital audio studios. Larry Berger, Executive Director of SLB Radio Productions says "We could not find any other unit with this mix of connectivity and design/build quality at this price point."
MvixUSA's entire line of portable, hard-drive based multimedia centers, including the Mvix MX-760HD, are available for purchase online at www.mvixusa.com and through trusted partners such as ThinkGeek.com, Newegg.com, and Tigerdirect.com.
