With Cartridges 4 Canines, Your Trash Can Open Doors
Reduce office clutter and turn trash into treasure by participating in Cartridges 4 Canines, a fundraising initiative to benefit Susquehanna Service Dogs. The Keystone Partnership is partnering with Harrisburg Copiers to launch this used ink and toner cartridge drive, which channels environmental awareness to generate financial support for the significant services provided by Susquehanna Service Dogs. Individuals and companies in Central Pennsylvania can arrange for regular collection of their used inkjet and toner cartridges by Harrisburg Copiers or other Keystone volunteers, and all proceeds from the recycled cartridges will go toward the breeding, training and placement of service, hearing and therapy dogs for children and adults with disabilities.
Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) November 23, 2007 -- Cartridges 4 Canines is an easy, environmentally-conscious opportunity for businesses and individuals in Central Pennsylvania to support an important service program while clearing out some office clutter. Keystone Human Services has partnered with Harrisburg Copiers to coordinate the used ink cartridge drive, which raises funds for Susquehanna Service Dogs (SSD). Keystone will provide an on-site receptacle for used cartridges that will be collected weekly and shipped to a recycling center, generating financial support for Susquehanna Service Dogs, a program wholly supported by community donations.
Susquehanna Service Dogs raises, trains and places service dogs with individuals who experience spinal cord injuries, polio, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, arthritis, stroke, brain injuries or hearing loss, as well as those facing the challenges of seizure disorder, autism, and mental illness. Therapy dogs are trained to assist in counseling sessions, post-trauma intervention and encouragement visits. About $19,000 is required to breed, raise and train each service dog, and therapy dogs can cost approximately $75 an hour to provide. Often, the people who could benefit greatly from service or therapy dog assistance cannot afford the initial placement fee of $5,000. By helping SSD and Keystone raise these funds, you and your company are ensuring that the valuable services provided by these skilled canine companions can continue - opening doors to fuller lives for countless children and adults with disabilities.
Cartridges 4 Canines is currently accepting the following cartridge models: Brother, Canon, Dell, HP, Lexmark, Minolta, Panasonic, Pitney Bowes, NEC, Okidata, QMS, Ricoh, Samsung, Sharp, Xerox and Toshiba.
Individuals and companies can participate by registering at http://www.keystonehumanservices.org/ssd/cartridges4canines.php or by calling Keystone Partnership at 1-888-377-6504 or Harrisburg Copiers at 1-800-564-7002. Companies can arrange for regular collection of used inkjet and toner cartridges, and Harrisburg Copiers also welcomes calls for unscheduled pick-ups.
SSD is a program of Keystone Children & Family Services, an agency of Keystone Human Services http://www.keystonehumanservices.org/ which provides support for individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, those experiencing mental illness, children and family services as well as support for the elderly to live independently in their own home.
