viagogo Reveals Who's Hot, and Who's Not in Live Music 2007

London, UK (PRWEB) December 1, 2007 -- Results released today by viagogo.co.uk, Europe's leading ticket exchange, show who's hot, and who's not, across live music events in 2007. The team at viagogo examined prices on its website and compiled a table with a few surprising results.

The true value of a concert ticket can be seen on the secondary market, where tickets are worth what fans are prepared to pay for them. The 'viagogo index' shows the desirability of the ticket, where "face value" is multiplied to get the resale value.

Top 10 2007 (average values year to 26.11.2007):

Event / Average face value (£) / Average viagogo (£) / viagogo Index
The Verve / 30 / 237 / 7.9
Led Zeppelin / 125 / 914 / 7.3
Rihanna / 27.5 / 130 / 4.7
The Killers / 23 / 106 / 4.6
Take That / 40 / 180 / 4.5
Westlife / 32 / 140 / 4.4
50 Cent / 35 / 145 / 4.2
Bruce Springsteen / 55 / 221 / 4.0
Prince / 31 / 125 / 3.9
Michael Bolton / 35 / 128 / 3.7

Led Zeppelin, the most hyped ticket of the year, has been beaten by The Verve. Rihanna takes third place, beating favourites such as The Killers and Bruce Springsteen. Take That has beaten their rivals Westlife, whilst the Spice Girls reunion does not even make the top ten.

Barbra Streisand's UK shows are top of the flops with tickets reselling for less than face value.

Worst 3 2007 (average values year to 26.11.2007):

Event / Average face value (£) / Average viagogo (£) / viagogo Index
Barbra Streisand / 550 / 337 / 0.6
George Michael / 100 / 84 / 0.8
Beyoncé / 70 / 64 / 0.9

viagogo's CEO Eric Baker said, "I have been surprised by many of our findings, The Verve beating Led Zeppelin to the most desirable ticket of 2007 is a tremendous feat. It is interesting to see the bottom three had some of the highest face values of the year, these artists are perhaps not as desirable as they once were."

About viagogo
viagogo is an online secondary ticket exchange that allows people to buy and sell live event tickets in a safe and secure environment. What that means is that viagogo facilitates and guarantees the exchange between someone who wants to sell and someone who wants to buy live event tickets. By managing payment and delivery we guarantee that buyers will receive their tickets and sellers will receive payment. For this service, viagogo takes a commission which is a percentage of each exchange.

viagogo was set up in August 2006 by the co-founder of StubHub.com, the leading online secondary ticketing company in the US that was acquired in March 2007 by eBay for $307m. Based on an already proven business model and adapted for the European market, viagogo is the first and leading business of its kind in Europe, bringing efficiency and transparency to what has traditionally been a murky marketplace. It is therefore the best place to buy and sell live event tickets in a secure and guaranteed way.

Since it launched, viagogo has developed a portfolio of partnership deals with world-leading UK and European sports teams, media companies and charities. It is the official secondary ticketing partner of football clubs Chelsea FC, Manchester United FC, Everton FC, Portsmouth FC, Heart of Midlothian FC and FC Bayern Munich, as well as Rugby Union clubs Leicester Tigers and London Wasps. Among other deals, viagogo has also signed partnerships with Blackburn Rovers FC, lastminute.com, Europe's leading independent online travel and leisure group, major global music company Warner Music International, concert promoter Live Nation and charities Amnesty International, Music for Relief and Leonard Cheshire. viagogo is the online destination of choice for people seeking tickets for major live events of all kinds across Europe.

In August 2007, viagogo launched operations in the U.S. with an exclusive partnership with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. For more information, visit www.viagogo.com
